Sao Paulo, 12 December 2019 -- The Way-306 Consortium formed by the companies GLP, Engenharia e Comércio Bandeirantes, TCL, Senpar and TORC, have won the MS-306 highway auction with a bid of BRL 605.3 million (USD 146 million) to develop, operate and maintain 220 kilometers of highway in the Brasilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul over the next 30 years.
The MS-306 is a key national transportation route especially for agricultural businesses towards the southeast ports in Brazil. The consortium expects to invest BRL 932 million in infrastructure improvement works over the concession period.
The MS-306 concession marks the entry of GLP, the global investment manager specializing in logistics, in the area of infrastructure investments in Brazil. This is the first investment in the highway segment made by the company, which has a team dedicated to prospecting and investing in infrastructure assets in the Brazilian market. Apart from creating synergies with GLP’s core logistics business, GLP sees great potential for the development of infrastructure investments in Brazil, which remains one of the most underserved logistics markets globally and is also one of the fastest-growing e-commerce markets in the world.
