GLP begins construction of ALFALINK Ibaraki I in Osaka
This is the first ALFALINK facility in the Kansai Region
Tokyo, 11 January 2022 - GLP announced that it has broken ground on GLP ALFALINK Ibaraki 1, a large-scale six-storey logistics facility with a total floor area of ~165,000 sqm in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture. GLP ALFALINK Ibaraki 1 is the first building of GLP ALFALINK Ibaraki, which will comprise three facilities with a total floor area of ~320,000 sqm when complete, making it the largest logistics development in the Kansai region.
Located along Osaka Prefectural Road No. 14, the site has excellent access to the Meishin Expressway, Kinki Expressway, and Chugoku Expressway. The site also has high potential as a logistics hub, with a truck terminal, a wholesale market, a rail freight terminal, and other logistics-related facilities nearby. Construction is scheduled to be completed in July 2024.
The sixth floor of GLP ALFALINK Ibaraki 1 will be occupied by a truck terminal to be used by SAGAWA EXPRESS CO.,LTD., a major logistics solutions provider in Japan. The first floor will be equipped with cold storage facilities to meet growing demand for refrigerated warehouses to accommodate frozen goods.
The ALFALINK series aims to provide facilities which enhance well-being of its users and surrounding communities. ALFALINK Ibaraki 1’s amenities include a shared break room exclusively for the facility's workers and open community spaces such as a park and common-use building which houses a cafeteria, provisional store and day-care center. The warehouse and common-use building will be connected by a bridge on the second floor to segregate the flow of logistics vehicles and pedestrians, ensuring safety as business operations coexist with the local community.
The sixth floor of GLP ALFALINK Ibaraki 1 and has been identified as a leading model logistics facility due to its built-in energy-saving measures, facility design which promotes workers’ well-being, and its ability to function as a disaster base in the future. An emergency power generator and a disaster prevention center are located on the second floor to prepare for disasters such as flooding and power outages due to earthquakes, and the facility is designed to use well water in case of emergencies. The facility has plans to obtain LEED GOLD certification and installation of rooftop solar panels which will provide a portion of the building's electricity needs.
