GCTL Accelerates Energy Transformation by Equipping Customers with New Energy Storage Technology
Shanghai, 13 January 2023 – GCTL, a joint venture between GLP and Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd. (CATL), the world’s leading battery provider and the largest maker of electric vehicle (EV) batteries, has been actively driving development of energy storage infrastructure in industrial and commercial sectors in China.
In Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, construction of the city’s first large-scale industrial and commercial energy storage has commenced. GCTL played a key role in the project by putting forward a smart and integrated energy solution to the owner of the cutting-edge energy storage facility. With an installed capacity of 2.5MW (5MWh), the facility is expected to provide more than 3 million kWh of stable energy storage every year. It will optimize the energy structure, reduce electricity costs and improve operating conditions of the local power grid.
In Shanghai, the first phase of the GLP Park Shanghai Baoshan energy storage project, also backed by GCTL, has completed and is now connected to the grid. The project is an outdoor single unit and makes efficient use of the park's premises. GLP Park Shanghai Baoshan, one of the top-performing GLP parks, is among the few logistics infrastructure facilities globally which have the highest level of green certifications. The newly added energy storage infrastructure will further position the park as a benchmark for smart, efficient and low-carbon logistics parks, and enable the park to promote sustainable environmental and social development, green energy asset servicing and ESG practices in various aspects.
Energy storage in industrial and commercial sectors presents ample opportunities to demonstrate and promote sustainability in the modern power system. GCTL’s energy storage projects have built a sound foundation for the company to become a first-class energy infrastructure operation services provider. Looking ahead, GCTL will accelerate the development of new energy storage to facilitate global energy transformation.
